Mission and objectives

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programmes, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritisms.

Context

UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential. This UNV assignment is part of ICT general function like user support, basic trouble shooting, managing hardware, installing operating systems and software. Good knowledge of communication equipment and devices like iPhone, Samsung and their apps. This covers both Jerusalem main office and Gaza zone office.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the ICT Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV ICT Assistant will:

• Provide user support for the organization software and systems.

• Trouble shoot any problem or issue related to ICT services

• Provide short training session for users on the systems used.

• Install Operating system (OS) and authorized software as per standards.

• Check and maintain the equipment hardware like laptops and printers.

• Check and maintain the communication equipment on regular basis.

• Assist in the SharePoint projects: ECM and Cloud One usage

• Support the ICT section with new projects if required.

• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility criteria

Age: - 18 - 26

Nationality

Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

REQUIREMENTS

Required experience

1 years of experience in - Bachelor’s degree in ICT area.

- At least 1 year of practical work experience in information technology, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving.

- Experience in providing assistance to users on IT products and services.

- Practical experience and working knowledge of various computer platforms and applications is required, especially Microsoft products.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work with multi-cultural organization.

- Systematic and ability to work under stress.

Required education level

Bachelor degree or equivalent in At least 1 year of practical work experience in information technology, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving.
